Look in your local penny saver for those that need some work. Hopefully you will find someone that is willing to work on your allowable budget.

  • Budget. Figure out what your hard costs are, i.e. mortgage/rent, utilities, insurance, medical, food etc. Whatever is left over, bank it for future repairs or projects. Then plan a project and source materials carefully and seasonally so as to find the best prices on the items you may need to purchase. Look for free items, even if you may need to store for a period of time till you can gather everything needed. Garage sales, Goodwill, thrift stores, neighborhood email networks, social media are all great tools to find all kinds of stuff.
