Succulents are fairly easy to root. I've just taken the piece of plant & put it into soil that is loose. They will root with little care most of the time. I'd root several pieces just to be sure. (at least that's what worked for me & a few of my neighbors!) Good Luck!
Put them in some rather sandy soil and water them once in awhile. As succulents they absorb most of their moisture from the air. They will sort of grow a little pale and look poorly if they need some water. I forgot one I had in a corner and found it blooming beautifly after months without any attention at all.
Ok so the proper procedure is to place them in a rooting hormone.Once the roots start to develop plant them in cactus soil only.Cactus do not require a lot of water so just give it a little bit.place the newly potted plant in a sunny location.
I've been growing Christmas cactus for years. Christmas cactus are one of the few really forgiving houseplants there are. Recently my mother gave me my grandmother's Christmas cactus because she can no longer climb the steps to her upstairs to take care of it. When she gave it to me it was really in need of a good drink of water since it had been neglected for months while she was in the hospital. Once I got it home I gave it a good drink then waited a few days and gave it another good soaking. It's come back beautifully! The simplest way that I have found to root new plants is to just stick about a six inch long piece in a vase or glass filled with water. Keep checking for roots and to make sure the water is covering the bottom where the roots form. Once you have some good roots formed just plant it in regular potting soil.
I have just grown 10 from my plant brake of one peace let it dry out for a couple of days then lay it flat on top of potting soil and keep damp it will root in no time xx

I root mine in a glass vase with just enough water to cover root area. just a few days,you will see roots.
...violets are rooted the same way! Put one of the leaves in some water and before you know it, you'll have roots and it will be ready for planting
