How do I use seawood -fresh or dried -in my garden on the coast?

    I've used dried kelp to make a tea and have also dug it in around my vegetable plants. I don't have access to fresh or I would use it as a mulch to keep the weeds down and feed my plants. I suppose you would want to rinse it if you harvest it fresh. You're so lucky....

    Whenever I used seaweed, I put it into my compost pile. Be sure to rinse the salt off before using! It is a great addition to the compost/garden.

    We use seaweed directly from the beach, no rinsing. In the fall and winter we add seaweed to the gardens. In the spring we rake what has not decomposed to the side, plant then use the seaweed as mulch.
