Best way to expand a patio?

We would love to expand our patio out to be wider and possible longer. Is there a way to do this and make it look rather seamless without pouring cement? Thanks I advance!

You could add a nice wide boarder of brick, stone or paving blocks. It will look like you planned it that way.

Yes, that is what I was going to suggest. A neighbor did that with his years ago and it still looks good! He had a cement area like yours and added red bricks to border and extended it out to the left of his house so he could place his grill further away from back door amd leave more room for a dining set.

Mulch an area around you patio. This would give you the entire patio you have for sitting. Put your pots around in the mulch.

I agree! A boarder of landscape or paving blocks would look great! Give it a finished look.

I did this when I lived in AZ. I added flagstone around the concrete. Pavers would be a great asset and then even add your mulch area past that with your plants and make it look like a planned defined area.

You have so much room to "play" with! Do you want a hard surface to set up chairs or a bbq grill? Then you need to do bricks or pavers, set on a base of sand.

If you want room for plants or to grow vegetables, you can do raised beds all around the concrete patio you have. You can also use gravel, stones, or cedar bark chips and can put in stepping stones or plant bushes and small trees! Have fun!

We extended our small patio by gravel and landscape timbers to hold it in. We found a local landscaping supply company that you could buy by the yard & have it delivered. We used concrete blocks, bricks and landscaping timbers to border it and create flower beds. Now our patio is 3 times larger and accommodates our extended family.

I used rubber mulch in both black and red around this patio
