I moved into my new studio apartment a few months ago. My sweet boyfriend bought me this awesome copper wire hanging baskets from CB2. I think they're intended for storing fruits & veggies in in your kitchen, but I had another idea in mind for them.

I'm a plant lady in training (I've already achieved cat lady, so plant lady is next haha.) I absolutely love the look and feel lots of fresh plants bring a space. So turning this into a hanging planter was a must for me!
I decided to put it in the corner of my bedroom area right by the window so the plants will get lots of light. I did this by simply screwing in a ceiling hook that I picked up from Home Depot.

Once that was up, it was time to get the right plants! I headed to an adorable plant store in Williamsburg Brooklyn called Sprout. If you're ever in the area it's a must-visit!
Since the top basket is smaller and fairly close to the ceilingI didn't want anything too big or crazy.

I spotted this fern and new it would be the perfect fit! (Plus, I love ferns).
For the larger bottom basket I knew I wanted something big, beautiful and viney ( Since I have fairly high ceilings I knew that would work perfectly.

I picked up this guy (I LOVE him). While I was popping the fern in a placed him here on my 'closet.' (Fun fact: my studio came with NO CLOSET. Luckily I didn't rule it out and just got one of these handy Ikea coat racks and BOOM instant closet.
I popped fern in the top and then added big viney guy to the bottom. Easy peasy! Just remember that you'll need to put some thought into the way they'll face and make sure none of their leaves are getting squished/pulled etc.

(I couldn't take pics of me actually putting them in, because it was just me and Binx and Cosmo dont have opposable thumbs. But you get the picture). :)
I LOVE how it turned out! (And apparently Cosmo does too).

I hope this inspired you guys to take something you don't know what to do with and give it new life that works for you!

Rule in life: Don't know what to do with it? Put a plant in it. ;)

Have a great weekend all!
