find a stencil you like maybe silver or off white and paint a boarder on top
Maybe you could paint that area above the backsplash a muted shade maybe the grey in the backsplash.
Great ideas, and two I hadn't thought of. I hate the yellow, but don't have the ambition or the permission to repaint it. If I just painted the little space above the backsplash, it wouldn't be difficult to paint back. Maybe grey, with a blue stencil. Thanks!
If you don't wany to pain get a roll of wallpaper that matches your backsplash and attach with tape or push pins.
Buy a 12 x 12 piece of peel and stick coordinating tiles that are rectangles and not squares. Cut them into strips of one or two tiles and make a line of them at the top of your existing tiles.

All good ideas. One further: a strip of molding, painted a color that accents your tile, attached with Command strips. Attach some pretty material with liquid starch.
Wow! I knew I came to the right place! These are all great ideas. Now I just have to decide. Thank you all so much!
Please check with your landlord before doing any of these ideas. While they are great, the longer the peel and stick stays on the more permanat it becomes. Take it from a landlord that has spent way to much time scraping off and repairing things tenants do.
Tina, I understand your concern. I did show it to the landlord the last time he as here and he loved it. He has pretty much told me to do whatever I want with paint, so I think that's what I'll use to finish it off. Thanks.
