You get a better yeild if you plant in spring 2 or 3 weeks past danger of frost.

I live east of Dallas and I plant seeds in the spring. Full sun. Okra likes it when the temps are in the 90's or higher. Water deeply every other day or two. Okra is one plant that you don't have to fuss over. Last year my okra was at least 8 feet tall (I can't remember what the seed was)! Remember, the smaller the pod, the easier to cut or cook . Larger pods tend to be tough. I just leave those on the stalk until they are dried and pod has split. I then collect the seeds for next year.

Superhuber18 has lots of good advice. I would add a little country advice from my maternal grandmother: plant okra no earlier than Good Friday, and no later than July 4 for the second crop.
