For our pool - we used strategically placed cedar "panels" that were 6x6. Raised them 12 inches off the ground and filled that space in with tall perennials. The hardscape of the wood was a nice backdrop to the tall perennials (we used Mexican lavender). Good luck!

my home came with an ugly chain link fence Which I needed for my dogs. I planted 6 inch privet twigs three years ago on the outside of the fence that I purchased online. 20 for $10. I bought 80 of them. They are now 4 feet high and will grow to eight feet if not pruned and trimmed. The root system is very aggressive so keep that in mind. But the fence is camouflaged and I will eventually have the privacy I want and it blends in with the rest of the neighborhood.

Thank you both for the ideas. Between my driveway and the chain link fence There is a narrow strip. I have planted 4 ft high arbor vitae. Hopefully in 3 years I will have some privacy. On the other side, and across the back I have the chain link (across the back 3 large pines (lots of shade) the idea of strategically placed planks can solve the problem...have to think on that. Again, thank you.
  • Buy lattice trellis panels at any home improvement store and plant a quick growing vines - one season = instant privacy.
