There is a product called Allure found at Home Depot. It is a vinyl that looks like wood or tile and is very easy to install. It is very durable and water proof.

Why not paint or stain the concrete. never worry about water accidents.

We learned that if you apply something more permanent first, like tile or linoleum, that room sized rugs or throw rugs, etc. added on top, would be covered by insurance in case of accidental water damage, even flooding. It depends on how you plan to use the space. If just for storage, paint or stain. but, if for a more cozy room use where you'd want a floor covering for warmth, cover yourself financially, too.
