It's a paint that you can easily sand after applying to give an old effect with the color or the stain under the coat of paint. I recommend you to apply a varnish after you have finish to sand the parts you want to sand.

Chalk Paint is a type of paint (actually, it's a trademarked brand of paint by Annie Sloan, but other companies have similar paints also) that can be used on furniture and other items to create a chalky appearance. It's used for creating an aged appearance, and can be distressed easily

Chalk paint is the new fad. It's easy to apply with very little preparation to the item you want to paint. It has a flat/matte finish which can be sealed with wax, clear or tinted. You can make your own chalk paint with plaster or paris and it will go a long way. Have fun. Best of luck.

Yes, chalk paint is different than chalk board paint. Chalk paint does not require prep work before you paint; that is why it is popular. It drys to a "chalky" finish. Then you buff with wax to get a sheen and smooth finish. Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is the most popular, however there are other products out there. You can make your own chalk paint by mixing plaster of paris in regular paint.
