Tips for painting a veneer over pressboard jewelry armoire?

A light sanding on any 'glossy' areas is a must; then put on a base coat of primer, then you final coat in the color of your preference. Sanding glossy areas allows the primer to have ;some tooth' to hold onto...otherwise prime & final coat will peel off & you will have to start over again.
