Living room turned into a bedroom- help!

Hello Shauna: are you saying you have one long room that is a living room with a couch but also has to serve as a bedroom? If so, you could have someone mount a ceiling hung drapery track then hang full-length curtains from it to separate the room. OR ... if it's just a clothes closet you need, you could still do the same at one end of the room. Remember to allow room for the width of a clothes hanger. Your clothes are then hidden behind the drapes. You can buy freestanding racks (similar to department stores) that will hold your clothing OR buy a wardrobe or two from Ikea. I hope this helps. One more tip if you are desperate for storage ... instead of normal side tables, if space allows, look for narrow dressers or small cupboards that will not only hold the reading lamp, etc. but will also provide further storage for sweaters, underwear, socks, etc.

An old-fashioned armoire/wardrobe can store your clothes. Several years ago, I used one from a hotel in Europe to define the entry of my lake house but left it there when we sold the house. At any rate, you might find something similar in an antique store. Try dividing the rooms with one or with a bookcase. When I created the entryway, I used the back of the armoire as if it were a wall, with a painting and a piece of furniture snugged up to it.

Get one of those upholstered cubes for a coffee table and extra storage.
