I grow Dalia's last season I had tiny spiders, how do I rid of them?

The little red spiders were all over the under side of the leaves. My neighbor told me to use tide powder detergent, sprinkle a tablespoon once a week, her solution helped to rid my plants of the spiders, & they flurished beautifully.
Where did you sprinkle the powder - on the soil or on the webs and spiders?

I too would like to know where you put the Tide, and and how you spread it
on the soil, than put water on the tide, it will have suds but it will stop the spiders, it did for me.
