  • If you have a steamer, I would use that. You could also use a good carpet cleaner in a can and use hose attachments to vacuum off.

GP-66 is the best cleaner I've found.

Mix a solution of 1/2 cup isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol with 1/2 cup cool water. Sponge the alcohol solution onto the affected area and let it work for at least ten minutes. Blot away the moisture with plain white cloths or paper towels. Keep moving to a clean area of the cloth as the hair spray residue is transferred to the cloth.

Allow the area to air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Repeat the steps if necessary and then vacuum to lift the fibers.

If the stain remains, mix one teaspoon of white vinegar with one cup of warm water. Sponge the stain with this solution. Blot until the liquid is absorbed. Sponge with cold water and blot dry.

Do you think you could add some essential oils or something to counteract the vinegar smell? I love vinegar for cleaning but with upholstery I always wonder if the smell will go away...

Great idea with the essential oil, Cori! Wouldn't want to sit in something that smells like a salad
