I'm heartbroken about these vintage lockers!

I just bought these vintage lockers to use as a dresser in a bedroom. I already knew what color they would be painted. I was beyond happy! I have wanted a set of these since forever but never had specific plans till now. Got them home and we unloaded them into the garage. They weigh a ton and measure 6 foot tall and 3 foot wide. It dawned on mt this morning that the smaller locker doors open out and up. This isn't going to be functional for me at all. The locker was going into a small place. I'm not sure what to do now. Hubby suggested a platform but not interested in that. At this point I think I will resell them and be more careful next time. I may even build a set from wood and use chicken wire. So what would make these appealing to someone? Hubby says they would work in a garage though we don't need them. No rust. I planned on a minty blue color.
Why not functional? It looks like it would be more functional because you wouldn't need room for the door to swing out. Try the doors and see if you can make it work before you resell. You might actually like it better if you think a little more.
Don't fret, these are really popular and you will make your money back. Price a bit higher than what you paid to give you "wiggle" and negotiating room. Will be sold in no time.
Just curious, why do the out and up doors not work for you?
Can you just turn them upside down? From the picture all that will happen is the small ones will open down and the long ones on the other side. Clips will hold the small doors shut.
I'm not sure why the doors opening upward is a problem.
Were you planning on placing the locker unit horizontally vs vertically(as shown in pic)?
Why not remove the smaller doors, leaving the spaces open for folded clothes, or even shoes, or jewelry?
You could turn it upside down or even on its side and make a functional shelf unit out of it. Lockers have so many possibilities. I've seen a unit like this in a chicken coup for laying hens. The doors were removed and attached to the wall of the barn to make more laying boxes as well.
