A good "wood" look flooring option for a kitchen and powder room?

We are remodeling our downstairs powder room adjacent to the kitchen in our 1910 farmhouse. We will be getting new flooring and like the wood look but need something durable for the bathroom. Later we plan to do the kitchen in the same flooring, if possible. Any suggestions? We have looked at luxury vinyl tile, ceramic plank flooring, etc. Best choice?
Actually both options you mentioned are good. What fits your lifestyle the best? Do you live where it rains or snows a lot? Kids? Pets? I like ceramic floors as you can add heating underneath. Vinyl is so easy to clean, no grout. Think about how tidy (or not) your family and friends are. Once you weigh all the pros and cons for both according to your lifestyle, you have your answer. No matter what you choose, it will look fab and make you happy!

Allure resilient vinyl plank flooring from Home Depot is fantastic. It's inexpensive, looks like real wood, waterproof, easy to install, extremely durable. They also have all the matching trim pieces (quarter round, transition strips, etc.) I have it throughout my entire home as well as a rental property and am thrilled with it!

We just moved into senior living. The floors they have here look just like wood but are vinyl with lively wood appearance pattern. Don't know the maker but is sturdy. OK to walk on barefooted, When something drops it is padded soft enough it doesn't break and no noise, easy to clean, waterproof (by tub, sink). I am proud of the appearance when company comes. My wheelchair rides easily over it.

I also installed the allure vinyl planking. It is simple to install. I did it myself. I was very happy with the results on the floors on the second floor in the bathroom and hallway but no so happy with my bedroom floor at my lake house. The bedroom is on the first floor and the house is built on a concrete slab. The house is not air conditioned and I noticed in the warm weather, the floor sweats. Maybe I should have put a moisture barrier down. Didn't think it was necessary. You may have the same problem in your basement with the vinyl planking. However, I do love it especially with the kids and an old dog. Ceramic wood planking is beautiful, expensive, labor intensive , cold and u better make sure the floor is absolutely level or the planks will crack over time.

I put the core tech through my whole condo. its water proof and has the soundproofing built right in. My neighbors below me love it also as the no longer hear me.
We are installing plank tile that looks like rustic wood. It should withstand a lot of traffic and also be easy to clean and maintain. You could install it on the diagonal for a rustic yet more modern look!
I have a dark vinyl floor that looks like slabs of slate flooring. I don't know what kind of vinyl floor it is, but it is soft and dishes don't break if you drop them on it.
I just put down some vinyl "planks" in my guest bathroom yesterday and I'm very pleased with the floor. The color I chose looks like grayed barn siding. but kind of "beachy" at the same time. Very easy to install for a do it yourselfer, can be cut to size with scissors.
Not purchased from the big box stores but rather a local flooring store. I believe it is manufactured by Mohawk (box doesn't say - only "Premier luxury". ) Was a bit pricey (1 box covers 30 sq feet for $116) but I think it covers more if you're careful with placement. My small bathroom is 25 sq ft (not including vanity area) and I still have 9 full 6"x36" planks.
One of the benefits is it's not just water-resistent but waterproof. Win Win situation for me.

I think the luxury vinyl tiles are very nice and worry free. If you want, you may find a recyclable vinyl product if you plan to replace it in the future.
