you need to spread top soil,lime,grass seed for your area,starter fertilizer,and tope with peat moss. Keep evenly moist until the seed germinates.

My foolproof method for growing grass is to prepare the soil and water it. Then spread your grass seed. Put a layer of ordinary straw from a farm over the grass seed. The straw keeps the seeds from blowing away and it keeps the seeds moist to germinate. The nice part is the straw disintegrates quickly and you don't have to pick it up.
