Azalea transplant

I have a two azalea bushes that I need to move for a porch remodel. When is the best time to move them and how big should the root ball should be when I dig them up?

    Transplanting shrubs should be moved in the fall,however if they must be done now,do when it is cool out and not in direct sun. Dig wide around the plants until you can see the actual toots. Make your new holes twice the size and put peat moss in the bottom.Place your plants and fill with the soil making sure to tamper any air out. Keep moist until the root system takes hold.
