We've only had one good year. After that no luck, only one or two tomatoes. Just no worth the effort.

Did you rotate the tomato plants?

Cyndi, I'm in Scottsdale and we have a container garden up on pallets to ease the ground heat. Plant with seeds, and plant more than one container or if planting in the ground soil have about 4 plants to make pollination easier. Chicken wire cage makes it harder for birds to get in and easier to cover with cheesecloth as the fruit ripens. We water with a drip system and also have a plastic 4 inch cylindrical vase with a few small holes drilled in the sides placed in the center of each container showing only about 2 inches above the soil line. This filled with water will water the roots. Sunshade about 6 ft over the garden protects it from the summer sun. Adding San Marzano this season..6 inches from seed already. Strawberries are going crazy with blooms and fruit. More info.?

Order The Garden Box planter online. Look it up. We got ours last year and we live in a desert like climate also. We got loads of tomatoes, both cherry and beefsteak. It has a tank at the bottom that holds 4 gallons of water, so the roots stay moist and the plants thrive. You will be impressed!
