What do i add to clay dirt to help make hydrandgea and lilac grow?

yard is to big to replace all dirt.

Peat moss. Also every year should spread pulverized lime around base of lilacs.
Soil amending should always be done before planting. Becareful with what you are putting in the soil as choosing the wrong amendment may be harmful for your plants. Take a soil sample to a reputable nursery and let them advise on the proper treatment.What will work for some in other areas may not work for you.
