most plants need a good soil mix with good drainage. feed a good fertilizer like miracle grow. The directions are on the box, I think one scoop per gallon of water
Bayer has an excellent 3 in 1 and a 4 in 1 that are good for powdery mildew and provides some nutrients. You scratch it into the dirt around the plant.
