Learn to create a one of a kind mother's day gift using family pictures, a wooden crate, some paint, and a wooden family word to create a custom wall decor for you amazing mother!!
Gather your supplies: wooden crate of any size that fits your wall, a wooden word (I like family, but Mother would be great too), some paint, decoupage medium (mod podge or matte medium), rope, family pictures, cardstock, and some brushes.
I starting collecting family pictures and used any pictures where all 4 kids were in the shots (so from the youngest as a baby) and went forward to any family picture then after.  I had about 40 or so when I was done.  I sized them down to about 2-3" and made them all black and white. I then printed them on white cardstock and made a collage for the back of the crate. I used the matte medium to stick them to the back of the crate and also seal in the pictures.
I painted the wooden "family" word in light blue, but any color you want to paint will work. Pick you mother's favorite color!! I then glued the word to the front of the crate.
I also glued rope around the crate for added interest after the family word had dried in place.
You can hang this on a wall or if you did not have the words go below the crate like I did it could also rest on a table.
Here is a step by step tutorial on how I created this wall decor for you mother!!
There are so many variations of this project, but the idea that you made something that is personal for you mom is what always counts!!!
