Nothing I plant seems to grow more than two seasons. It is dry here and winters can get as cold as -35 F.

Try planting perennials at least one zone colder then your winters.

Thanks Janet. I had not thought of that.

I have always had good luck with lilies of all sorts, tulips and daffodils, bee balm, shasta daisies, black eyed susans, hardy hibiscus, lilac bushes, astilbe, hostas and ferns.

Thanks Jennifer. I'm familiar with Wisconsin and it is a lot more moist than the mountains of NewMexico but I'll certainly give your suggestions a try.

It should work. The problem is every ones planting zones have changed but the nurseries do not give that information.Just remember not all perennials regardless will survive.

Thanks Janet. I did not know Zones had changed. My biggest problem is having lived in LA and TX most of my life makes it hard to relate to cold, dry NM. 😉
