That will depend on the kind of lilies and your location.

I am in Western KY and I leave my bulbs in the planters all year and they come back every year

Most Perennial Lilies will grow back the following year. Mulch them heavy in the fall. I wait until they all die back and remove old stems when they are dry, then mulch heavy before first freeze. I live in central Indiana and have Asiatic, Calla, and Day Lilies and they all regrow and rebloom every year. I also use Miracle grow on them once a month in the summer when watering them. All kinds of Lilies are my favorite flowers! I am a semi retired floral designer and have also worked in Greenhouses some years. Hope this helps.

Lilies do not rebloom so you can cut the blooms after they bloom. Cut them back to the ground in the Fall or early Spring. Be sure to mulch them.

This really depends, like all gardening plants, on your growing zone. Check that out first, and then if you see the zoning requirements for your lilies(when you buy them there should be tagging information) will allow you to grow them, then look for those specifically marked "perrenial" to ensure year after year blooming.

I see that you're from East Alton, IL. My mom had many lillies that came back every year, in Edwardsville, but they were in the garden and not in pots or planters.
