You can buy or build a room divider. You can buy or build a room divider that can fit and with your decor and not looking at like a nice or as well, well. Depending on the size of your entryway will be how you decide how large or small of a dividing screen or dividing the system you will choose. This will also be nice as it will not be permanent, but it will be attractive. Go to YouTube and look up a DIY artist named Mark Montana. You will see a video that talks about a DIY room divider made out repurposed shutters or doors. The Finish he chooses is a little bit too stressed, but it is beautiful and classy. Of course you will do what suits you and your taste, if you choose this route. I think you will like the option that he is illustrating through the YouTube video. I always seem to have this problem, and I hate having a door open right into the living room or kitchen, for e.g. I have always used a decorative bookcase or high cabinet, or armoire (make sure it fits in scale and style with your space and other furnishings, or it will just be an eyesore). Usually I just use something I already have, & just place it strategically. That way, the room divider performs another function, as well - such as acting as a small coat closet for visitors (and you), or a sound system, an interesting collection you want to show off, etc. Of course, this means the furniture you use needs to look good from both sides, or you have to put some kind of backing on it that looks good (I have even used outdoor trellis before). You might then put some large art piece, wall hanging, etc. that fits with the room it faces. Keep in mind your lighting - if the divider blocks a window or door lights, you may need to add more lighting to compensate.
