Try to maximize space. If you have a decent size closet, get rid of your dresser and incorporate it into the closet. You can also replace closet doors with shades to make the room feel bigger. Shelves on the wall will take up less space than dressers and night stands. Mirrors are also great at creating an illusion of a larger room.
Have fun with it. Good luck!

Remove as many pieces of furniture from the room as you can afford to do. Look for other ways of storage like putting a dresser in a closet. Hang two clothes rods to double your closet space.
Put the head of the bed at the middle of the widest wall of the room if possible. Use a bed cover the same color as wall color. Do not use night stands and in lieu of them hang sconce lights and arrange needed bedside products in a neat storage container that fits under the bed. Perhaps put stripe wall paper or use stripe curtains on the walls which are perpendicular to wall that heads the bed. Or use elongating stripes behind bed or a headboard which has the same effect.
Use a wide rug under the bed which extends the width Impression on either side of the bed. Hope one of these ideas helps.

try to use "dual purpose" furniture.. chairs that are also storage.. a bed with storage underneath or in the headboard.. raise your curtain rods up as high as you can, to make the ceiling look higher.. and try to leave as much open space in the room as you possibly can.. open areas make a room look more spacious

Another idea instead of night stands is to get 2 small floating shelves to put on either side of the bed. Ikea
Put your bed on risers to gain more under storage. Put some castors underneath some of your dresser drawers, and slide them under the bed. or totally make a platform bed with lots of storage instead of a dresser.
Add an extra rod in your closet to create more hanging storage space.
