Has anyone made an adjustable table?

I want to create a table that goes from dining to cocktail standing height - bar/counter. Two 3 x 3 ft. tables that can fit next to each other or used separately in the kitchen. I don't have a high counter and I know people like to gather around counters.

I've been thinking about doing it for a while. I want to make an adjustable work/drafting bench. I've had my eye on this tutorial

what about making one of the tables 6 x 3 by say 40-42 inches high. This will be your counter/bar. And make the other table 6 ft. Minus 2 inches x 3ft wide by 30 inches high. They will be like nesting tables where one fits inside of the other. When not in use you can use them like a shelving unit. When in use, you can pull the table part out from underneath and seat 4 people comfortably and you can also use the bar height if you have more people. If you lack room for both in the kitchen area, use another room or turn the top one the opposite way of the bottom one. Buy stools that will swivel from table to counter height. Hope this helps!

That's very creative. I will sketch it out and see how it could work.
