I'm looking for an idea for making a bed tray /IPad stand?

I spend quite a bit of time in bed and need a way to eat and read / use my iPad at a comfortable level.I was thinking of PVC pipe frame but don't know how to go about this idea!

These are items I found for sale but seem pretty easy to make. One is a bolster pillow with some mouding glued at the base to prop up the device. The other is a pillow with four corner pockets sewn in to slip the iPad into. They seemed simple and cozy.
