A photo would help. Is your house on a hill or level ground? Where is the water coming from? Need more information.

Not exactly sure what the details are, but for erosion you may need to plant deep-rooted plants and bushes around the property. Or maybe the property needs to be leveled off. I hope its not something that structuraklly affects the house itself. I wish you luck.

This was happening in some beds around our house that are raised beds. Hostas have a very strong root system, so I planted hostas in the areas where it is sinking .

You are right about the hosta root system! I planted hostas on a steep slope in my yard. When I first moved in to this house, the slope was mostly bare and the rainwater would just run down the slope and wash the dirt down with it. I planted lots of hostas, some spring-blooming bulbs for color, and a number of small shrubs like azaleas, rhododrendrons and pieris to break up the sea of hosta. I was also careful to vary the sizes, colors, leaf characteristics of the hosta for interest and when the hostas die down in winter, the shrubs are still there. We no longer have to contend with all that soil being washed away every time it rains.

Depending on where the water is coming from, you can direct it with trenches or buried drain tiles to carry the water away without washing off topsoil. If it's not rainwater & you don't know where the water's coming from, you'll want to get to the source- could be a broken waterline or a natural spring that would need professional to correct.
