Did the grapefruit have seeds? That is the part you need to grow the tree. You can always try putting them in dirt and see what happens!

You can may not get the amount of fruit as a commercial tree but yes !
The Louisiana county agent says yes you can, but it will take years for the tree to produce fruit and it may not be very good variety, he suggests you purchase a tree from a nursery that has been grafted to produce....
It would need another grapefruit tree nearby so it could be pollinated. No fruit without pollination. I learned that with my pineapple plants I grew from the leafy tops of store bought pineapples. Took six years but I finally got a tiny one! It would be fun to try to grow a seed though, just don't get your hopes up too high.
