It happens because could have fungus try to water it less often and use a fungicide as soon as it starts to turn brown. My grass is just the same in winter as it is n the summer in St Petersburg, FL
Do you apply any fertilizer during your winter ,months?
The winter has no rain really...so unless you have sprinklers its going to brown. But not to worry when rainy season kicks in you'll have a green lawn once again!
with the watering restrictions all the lawns look horrible in my subdivision, but they always come back once winter is over and we get more rain...need to keep an eye out for cinch bugs though during drought because you don't want to have to replace your lawn...
There are some types of grass that go dormant in the winter and then turn green in the spring and summer. Does that happen with your lawn?
