    Apply food grade diatomaceous earth.

    You can use borax or grits.

    Try cayenne pepper, cinnamon, borax powder. or I have bought this light brown granual l type stuff from LOWES to sprinkle in the ant holes/hills. These all have been tried and been successful.

    Boric acid and grape jelly.. mix together and put around where you see ants.. they take it back and it kills the intire nest!! 😳

    Also you can mix 1/2 borax and sugar together... place around the inside of the house.. this also works great

    I spread borax on their 'trails'. They won't walk over it.

    Follow them and find their nest holes. Pour a bit of gas in them, the fumes will penetrate the tunnels. Drop a match. Gone for good.

    When touring one of the Colonial villages, I asked this question. I was told to grow Tansy and crush the plant leaves on the walk. The oils are not liked by ants and they will move on. You can also cut some young sprouts/tops and snip them over food - gives a peppery taste. Tansy is quite pretty with yellow blossoms that were used in dyeing cloth.
