Question about Growing potatoes with roses and other plants

Hello, I am wondering--do the potatoes also grow when planted with other plants like roses inserted in the middle of them? Will this method work with potatoes and tomatoes?

ed tGetting a rose cutting to start in a potato is a great idea, but because you would need to dig up the potatoes to harvest, you end up hurting the rowe bush. Grooming potatoes in a compost or even an aerated garbage can is pretty easy.
