How do I kill the weeds in the lawn without killing the violets?

I would transplant the violets to the garden. :-)

I'm afraid that most weed killers go after broad-leafed plants like violets so I'm not sure you can spare them without transplanting first. I have violets coming up all over my yard and in all my flowerbeds. Unfortunately they form a very thick, impenetrable layer of roots across the surface of the soil and would choke out everything else in my flowerbeds if I didn't relentlessly pull them. I live in zone 8 so perhaps they're not such a problem where you live. Good luck!
