I have the same problem with our first floor bathroom. It is utilized, everyday, because it has a shower and it & our son uses it regularly. The rest of us, obviously, utilize it for its normal purposes. This might sound a little odd but, when I sit on the throne,O often wonder how I can add character to it, as well as storage, but it is small! Just like yours! Then one day,as I was sitting on the throne, LOL, I realize that I forgot to think vertically. Instead of just looking at the diameter of space or the width...wall to wall. Sit on the throne, yourself, and look up and you can utilize this space too...look up for storage and adding beautiful decor and character. And if this is an option, do not forget about the area above the door on the inside of the bathroom. A shelf can be placed above the door, if there's enough space to place decor items or display towels beautifully.

Ok for decorating what colors do you like?What colors are currently in there now,floor walls vanity etc?
Paint the walls a pastel color like powder blue. Lighter colors help the room look better. Trim white. Give vanity and door a fresh coat of white. Think about how you can use vertical space aka the walls. Use shelving or over the toilet storage to utilize that space.
