Simply use "Soft Scrub" a other agents oftentimes contain ingredients that, while they certainly will clean, will scratch the porcelain surface. That includes abrasive cleansers.
Try bleach, but , close the drain & mix it with water. Let the bleach/water solution sit for several minutes, then rinse. Be careful that you don't get it on your clothing, it may remove the color!
Do not use bleach on a porcelain tub. An old porcelain tub is with a ferrous (iron) component. The chlorine element in a classic chlorine-based bleach oxidizes the iron from the porcelain. Oxidized iron is rust, the tub can get rusty red color streaks.
Hydrogen peroxide, Oxi Clean, and Clorox 2 are all chlorine-free cleaning agents (also the reason why they're color-safe) which have oxygen as a base element. Oxygen is a reducing agent with basic solutions– so the oxidized stains are actually changing their chemical composition– and in this case probably also releasing chlorine gas. Make sure your bathroom is well-ventilated; you don't want to breathe in too much chlorine gas!

I'm wondering if anyone has a hack for cleaning the ground-in dirt out of the non-slip pieces on the bottom of bathtubs that came permanently embedded in the bathtub?

Easy Off No Fume Oven Cleaner in the BLUE can. Spray it on let it foam and sit for a while. Rinse away.

bleach is not a cure all especially if the stains or soil were not mentioned.
