Tea tree oil or peppermint oil drops put where ants are coming into the house. May take several times, but it will stop them. Also safer than pesticides if you have kids or pets in the house. You can also mix both oils with a little water and put it in a spray bottle and spray directly on counters or floors. This is good for spiders also.

Orange peel or orange essential oil will work as well. Ive used it along with the cinnamon. (We live in the White Mtns. of AZ - all sand in our area with every type of ant possible.)

You can use boric acid mixed with water as a spray, or Borax as a barrier where they're entering the house. Recipes are readily available on the internet, just search "boric acid for ant control."

Sprinkle food grade diatomaceous earth anywhere you find an ant track/trail and anywhere you think they may be coming into the house. The fact that you have them at all may indicate that you have some rotting wood inside the house, probably from a small leak over a long time behind a bathroom or kitchen wall or under the floor. Our was discovered when we retiled a bathroom floor.
