Should I fill in behind stone edging around flower beds (raised beds)

I have medium sized blocks of stone around my flower beds. Should I fill in behind them with potting or garden soil in addition to mulch to actually make 'raised beds'?

It truly depends on the look you are after. If you raise the inside up then you might have the mulch run over with heavy rains. Personally, I like the clean look of mulch or like colored rounded rocks dipped down behind the edging. If your soil isn't great then adding rich soil to top it off might be a good idea too.

If you want. It's a taste thing also, if you're older raised beds are easier to work.

My suggestion: back fill with a nice compost mixture & plant something colorful yet easy to maintain...like geraniums...their blooms last a long time & they have a nice rich green color & they'd look spectacular against mulch!
