    Top soil is for lawns.It would be better to use garden soil.

      I use topsoil and compost mixture, 50/50 in my garden and everything grows really well. It ends up significantly cheaper than garden/potting soil.

    When using mushroom compost as a soil amendment, plan on working in a 1- to 2-inch layer for rockier soil.
