Entry foyer

we have a brick walled entry foyer with dark brown slate floors. I want to lighten this area up but am not sure what to do. I've thought about plastering the walls, or adding shiplap boards or just painting the bricks Any ideas ?

Brick is popular again so I would paint it if I were you. There are a lot of ideas here https://www.pinterest.com/pin/204139795588852940/

Thanks for the link. Will look tonight after work. It's 3pm here and I'm sitting waiting for my lunch order! Flat out today at work

How about doing a whitewash on the brick? It lightens it yet still retains that old world charm. I actually love your bricked entry! I think it would look awesome whitewashed. Or that german smear look, love that as well!

I agree with Susan S. I would use plaster and smear larger blotches over the brick in places giving it a more plastered look with the brick showing through in places. Giving it that old world look...That will really lighten up the foyer and give it provenance as well. The brick floor keeps it tied together and then add some metal florist canisters full of colorful blooms (faux) and it will become France for sure!

I too say go lighter. But, to break the ceiling and brick colors, perhaps make the molding the color of your floor? Hope that helps.

Oh I understand about "convincing" the husband! I usually wait until he leaves and then do it anyway and he's always so pleased and admits that he would have said no way! Please let me know if you do it, I'd love to see it!

White wash the brick walls and lay a light colored Berber carpet.
