When is the best time to dig up/transplant Snowball and Hostas bushes?

In the spring, when they first began to sprout. If they are in clay, it might be good to do it on a day where it's been raining or perhaps soak the soil with a garden hose. Then you can cut them out with a sharp spade or a sharp kitchen butcher knife.

I agree with Susie. Although we have been able to dig up and transplant hostas anytime during their growing season in our yard.
