The first time I made fabric washi tape it wasn't a success. It was a super sticky gummy mess. I didn't try it again for years. Looking for ways to use washi tape? Just type "washi tape" in the search box at the top of the page And you will see all the ways Hometalkers use it. It is fun to have coordinating fabrics of themes. Like summer, Florida, school, birthday, graduation and so on. icon
I bought my Duck Indoor/Outdoor Carpet Tape at Walmart. I found it with the Duck tape in the paint section of my Walmart. This tape is super-strong and super-sticky double sided tape.
I gathered some fabric. For washi tape purposes, small designs/patterns work the best.

I put my fabric face down and ran a length of tape down it. (As the tape comes off the roll, it is sticky on one side and the other has a backing on it.) So, in this picture, the sticky side is pressed onto the wrong side of the fabric. I cut the tape off the roll with a scissors. I pressed the carpet tape onto the fabric securely. Leave the backing on until you are ready to apply your washi tape somewhere.
Then I trimmed off the excess fabric.
You can leave it thick or cut it however you desire. I usually cut mine in half.
I used a scrap piece of white fabric to make a banner shape. I turned over the raw edges and used iron on tape and made a point at the bottom. I sewed a pocket for a dowel rod at the top and added jute twine. I added burlap to the center for interest.
Then I added Scrabble Tile Magnets and clothespin magnets. They stay in place because I put washers on the backside. Totally, customizable. Remove them or add more as you wish.
This is the backside. This is how my magnets stay in place. I couldn't find another washer so I used a magnet for one of the clothespin magnets. The four washers down the side are the Scrabble tile magnets.

Oh, and you know there is a special holiday coming up that some fabric washi tape would be great for customizing some decorations. I decided to add some burlap washi tape and a button. I was going for a washi tape cake...
Washi tape can dress up teacher appreciation banners.
This mini clipboard is from Michaels and I added two types of washi tape to it. I keep thinking of more ideas and I will try to take pictures to show you where all my washi tape ends up! icon
Burlap washi tape is super cheap and adds so much texture. It only takes a scrap of fabric and then you have a really cute embellishment! I think this is my easiest and favorite scrap-busting project.
I love to use it to dress up the outside of envelopes! icon
and the back of envelopes! icon
And once you go that far, you might as well embellish the inside of the card! I mean, I think this shows my personality and that I really care! icon

I saw 2 different cities written where you could possibly from. I am asking you to clarify if you don' t mind because I collect flamingo things among a few other animal things.( squirrels were my first since I rescued 4 of them who were abandoned in hurricanes! ) I love your flamingo fabric and was wondering if it is very old since you stated it was from your stash, or if it is not and you might remember where you got it? If you actually DO lie in Orlando , I lived there for 15years, off and on, worked at Disney for 10 of them. I now live in Leesburg, only about a 45 minute drive from the edge of the edge of the city from what I have been told. I haven' t driven in 3 years due to having 7 seizures in one day suddenly and was put in a coma for a week. I haven' t had one since, but don't have the cash to get the car I bought legal, get a new license and car insurance. I did find out I have epilepsy, so they sat.Anyhoo, If your purchase was recent, my neighbor and best friend could take a road trip so her grandson could go see his other grandma in Apopka or Sanford ( I always forget which one ). and I could go fabric hunting! Thanks for your time Love your project.I should have looked at the date on this. Michelle T.

I love this. And I'm wondering if I could use this carpet tape with a solid fabric in too to bind my carpet remnants. ????
