How to remove old paint from an antique bed?

I have an antique bed that has an ugly paint job, and you can see a beautiful flower design under it. What is underneath is the original paint. What can I use to get the top coat off without damaging the beautiful design under it?

T.S.P. (trisodium phosphate) mixed w/water to a pancake batter consistency is a good, slow working stripper for paint removal. If you make a weak solution, it should loosen the the newer coat of pain without destroying the older more thoroughly cured paint.

    Good luck!
