Beadboard, white wooden trim (over six inches tall, and white trim around the doorways and tops of walls add to the theme. Try enhancing your fireplace mantel with repurposed wood and brick overlay or redoing your fireplace with white wood surround. Ceiling beams and long, solid drapes are nice touches. In the bathroom, vintage tile, claw foot tubs, built-ins. Simple furniture. These are some major upgrades but if you are serious about doing your whole house, these are great starts. Imagine the fun you'll have a flea markets and antique stores finding accessories. Take your time, you don't have to fill your house in one week. Wooden Treenware ( old wood Bowls, Wood Trays, ) Pewter candle sticks ( you can fake it by painting ones you find at Yard sales and Thrift stores), Wood Blanket chests, Wood Dry Sinks, Stencil designs on White painted Walls, Simple needlework samplers to hang on walls. Find old Crocks and Pottery... Old Wood Hutches and Pie Safes. Look up colonial Colors at Paint stores, check out Pinterest... There are books and Magazines about colonial Decorating.. Start off Simple and try your hand at decorating your Bathroom - Stencil around the woodwork , use Wood Towel rods, Braided Rug on the floor by Tub and in front of Sink.. Corner Cupboards and Little Wall cupboards.. Good Luck...
