How to Reno. Camel back trunk?

Has gaudy silver paint on outside & inside cubbies a pansy paper ? Covering. Don't know if original to trunk. Any ideas??

    I'd leave the inside pretty much like it is--unless you plan to use it--then you might want to strengthen it but try to keep the same look. The outside is bizarre. Definitely scratch that silver and see what it used to be. --you could actually get some textured wallpaper that can be painted--and use that instead of the silver but give it a patina-- like old leather maybe or very thin tin with rusty patina.

      will keep the inside lid as is except to spray some poly to protect it. Have to clean up inside bott on as it's all water stained so will either stain or paint it to coordinate with top. As for the "silver", it needs to be stripped then decide what to do but will give it an aged patina.

    I have one exactly the same. I painted the metal a matte black and I used Minwax Antique oil on the wood slats. I use it as a wood box on my veranda so I didn't bother to finish it inside. Good luck with your project!
