How do I maintain it? What feed do I use? Would it need fertilizer? How often do I water it?

I have 2 meyer lemon trees and live in zone 8B. One is in a pot and one in the ground. The potted one comes in during freezes and the other has to be wrapped. There is special fertilizer for citrus. Plant in full sun and water well. Good luck

I have a lemon tree in a large pot which has to be inside during cold weather. We live in Virginia. I put it out as soon as it is warm enough so it can get pollinated.
It blooms early. Make sure pot drains well. Every other yer I get a fantastic crop. I only use miracle grow. Lemons are green before ripening. photos show lemons in pot ripe. My tree has thorns.

In all plants and plantings, the location is the decisive factor. If you tend to cultivate the lemon tree, he should stand in the open air in a sunny and airy place for as long as it goes. As with all potted plants, the open air space should also be protected so that wind blasts can not overturn the buckets.
Since the lemon tree can not tolerate frost, a suitable winter quarter should be found before buying a lemon tree or other citrus fruit. The winter quarters are bright and cool, the air should not be too dry. In principle, the ratio of light and temperature should be balanced: at higher temperatures, the light supply should also be higher; at cool temperatures near zero degrees, a darker location can also be selected. An ideal winter location is a heated greenhouse, a nursery provide this wintering service. You can also place the lemon tree in an unheated staircase or in other side rooms of the house. The problem is e.g. A location in front of a heating.
