How can I transplant some lilies of the valley?

I want to transplant some lilies of the valley..how and when? Do they only like shade? As it seems that way out here at our place...??

Yes they will only survive in shade.Fall is the better time to divide them.
In the fall and has to be a shade location!
Just make sure you are putting them in an area that you don't mind if they spread. I actually dug up some strays when we took out the horrible shrubs at the front of the house and put them in a pot. I did this because I did not yet have any where to put them because we were taking out shrubs and putting in hostas on the other side of the front door also. I didn't take them out of the put until fall, when we finally had everything done and the corner was empty and ready. They are now growing and healthy in their shaded corner and survived living for three months in a pot. Just make sure to keep them watered.
