Do you have sun or shade?
Sue, I love container flowers. It depends on where your containers are located. Sun or shade. In the shade I plant impatiens and in the sun, petunias. They both grow and expand quickly and are very pretty all spring and into the summer months.
Annuals are best to put in planters because they do not come back each year. Plants like petunias would be a good choice.
Depending on the size of the planters,Lantana, portulaca, geraniums, salvia, bidens, sun loving coleus, penta, angelonia, sweet potato vines ,dracaena spikes, vinca vines,
I think petunias are beautiful and they love sun. Mine do very well until about mid August.
