They need about 1-1.5 inches of water per week, but you don't really need to measure - the soil around them should be moist. 🍅 enjoy!!
If they are drooping and dry in the morning , water. Most tomatoes will droop late in the afternoon to conserve their water.
about a gallon of water per week.....i generally go by moisture depth in their container if i stick my finger in the dirt and don't feel moisture by the time my 2nd knuckle reaches soil level they will get a drink. it also depends on the weather-the temps here can vary between -20 in winter to 110F or higher in summer.

I agree with using your finger to gauge the moisture. I know what you are talking about with the weather. I live in SE MN and it can be any where down to 40 below wind chill in the winter to 100 in the summer. Water needs can vary according to the weather at any given moment. It also depends on if it is planted in the ground or in a pot. The pot needs more frequent watering.
