Hostas prefer shade, however you can grow them in sun providing they are kept moist. There are other plants that may work better such as Liriope, mondo grass,Heucheras.
Generally hostas plants are considered shade plants, but can be grown in full sun, They just don't thrive or look as well
Ha yon and August Mom may work, but no hostas like full sun. If you can provide some shade, even with some taller plants, that would be helpful. Hostas in full sun may have a lighter color. Be sure to provide extra water for them, as they may dry more easily and burn.
In general, yellow- and white-variagated (not blue-leaved) like Sum and Substance, Gold Regal, Rising Sun, Sun Power, Gold Standard, Regal Splendor, Sundance, Patriot, Francee, Minuteman can all take a good amount of sun. Also, fragrant-flower hostas like Aphrodite, Fragrant Bouquet, Honeybells, Invincible, Royal Standard, So Sweet, Guacamole.
Check the American Hosta Society for information, or a good gardening site.
You also might want to consider making a shade for the hostas if you'd like to grow them anyway
